How sensitive to heat are the eproms? The only times I have had to solder chips (for a pc not a car) I was terrified that I would fry them. I realise it must be possible to do because you did it, but is it very hard to keep it cool enough whilst you reinstall it?

petbeemer you are one brave man!
I got the sweats just reading about what you did-I would be too scared to mess things up. I don't even change the parts on my PC which only costs a few hundred, let alone mess with the thousands worth of car.

I did not think you could mod your chips in the car. But then again it is just a computer chip and any person with the right know how would or should be able to take the proper measures and complete this. Right?
