If you are concerned about your car, you are welcome to borrow my datalogger for a week or two - this will show you knock values being reported to the ECU. Of course, who's to say how effective the stock knock sensor is at detecting DET, but it may give you some piece of mind?

The stock Knock sensor is very good but only when you get rid of phanton knock which you may or may not have,if your recording knock on its own do you get the odd spike thats off the scale?
The americans on the dsm's reckon 40 counts of knock to be ok although i wouldn't want to see it personaly, i have around 10 counts at around 3-3500rpm it then drops off to around 4 counts all through the range with a WOT air/fuel of 11.2
The knock sensor if it detects knock starts to work its way down the octane table which is similar to an ignition table thus knocking off timing, this can happen fairly quickly although even when it doesn't detect knock it does take months for it to climb back up the octane table which is why so many think that resetting the ecu improves performance (you have just reset the the octane table)
Our ecu has a octane reset every time the key is turned

I'm generally fairly happy with the knock levels I am seeing - I am only running about 0.9 bar at the moment and in generally see a Max Knock count of 4. I get the odd peak of 7 or 8 - this is normally after the car has been sat at lights for 5 minutes and is heat soaked (I currently run an HKS mushroom filter with no cold air feed - I see peak intake temps of 105 degrees farenheit when stuck in heavy traffic - I shall shortly be going to a standard air box with an HKS Panel and a feed picking up air from behind the driver's side light to see if intake temps improve in traffic - not an issue on the track, but is when queuing up at Santa Pod).

Ah thats good to know that it doesnt det without load. I get a rhythmical ticking (1 tick per rev. i think) over 7k but it does it in neutral too, i guessing its something vibrating in the engine bay somewhere.

Steve, i might take you up on that kind offer mate 8)

Sorry to not know anything, but can you please explain what we are looking at in each picture and how that relates to what you mentioned in the threads original post. This technical stuff is very interesting but I am so to it.
