The New Lotus Europa S
I dont usually do it but for some reason i decided to read my MSN advertising page that pops up when i log on..and this little beauty was on there...
What do you think of it? I think its quite smart..looks similer to the Elise but with a sharper body shape I spy the engine sitting rather snug at the back there too :-) Heres a few piccys.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "So while the interior is clad with leather, carpets and airbags, and there is a decent-sized boot, uncompromised power is provided by the Vauxhall/Opel two-litre turbocharged engine already offered in the VX220 Turbo. With an output of 200bhp and weighing in at 995kg, Lotus promises 0-60mph acceleration in 5.5 seconds, 0-100mph in 14 seconds and a top speed of 140mph. Equally important, the turbo will give the Europa plenty of shove at low engine speeds – this Lotus won’t need the nuts revving off it to access the performance. A close look shows the Europa owes a lot to the Elise on which it is based. However, the sills are lower and the roof higher, which will make access a more dignified affair. The chassis is fundamentally the same, a clever combination of advanced, high tech materials including an extruded and bonded aluminium chassis, composite body panels and a very advanced composite energy absorbing front crash structure. It’s different enough for Lotus to give it a new Type number, the 121; the Elise/Exige are both Type 111. Clive Dopson, Managing Director of Lotus Cars, explains: "The launch of the Europa S re-affirms our position as an innovative player in the highly competitive sports car marketplace. It allows Lotus to extend its product appeal beyond our traditional customer base, and provides yet another demonstration of the key Lotus brand attributes and high levels of quality for which we are particularly proud." Production starts in July at the Lotus Headquarters in Norfolk so putting to rest rumours that all future models will be built in Malaysia by Lotus owner Proton. The price is expected to be in the region of £33,000 or €49,000"
