Squaddies or ex squaddies
A question that has been bothering me for a while now and I think only Pongos will know the answer
Why are Lance Corperals called Lance Jacks? why are Corperals nots just called Jacks? If a Corperal is a Full Screw then why isn't a Lance Jack a half screw? The Crab

so much for the internet being the font of all knowledge, all I can find out about this is that the Lance Corperal was not actually a rank until 1962 and that a CO could give the rank and take it away as he pleased but for a Full Corperal and above only a Court Martial could bust them.
I also found that you could have a Lance Sgt :???: For those of you who watch Sharp, A lance corperal was called a Chosen Man PS a Bombagier is a Corperal in the Artillary. I must be bored
