OLYMPICS
What do you think of the Olympics?
I like to see people at the top of their game compete, whatever it may be. The Olympics is a great spectacle, and tradition, and on the whole should be supported. THe one thing I cannot stand is cheating, as far as I'm concerned anyone caught cheating should be banned for life. If that were to happen it would also act as a powerful 'deterrent' to others who might be tempted to do the same!! |

Lads, dont know if you know or not but for the last couple years,Ive been coaching professional bodybuilders and several olympic athletes.
Its a huge subject JP, but mate, I would place the figure as HIGH as 80% of ALL competitors have at some point extended the rules of engagement to the darkside. I honestly dont know whether I approve or dissaprove TBH. Just a few ways of cheating :- Stimulants : speed, ephedrine Anabolics : deca, winstrol, equipoise, primo HGH : human growth Hormone Insulin IGF1 : Growth Factors insulin related that my friend is just the beginnings. Athletes in many disciplines use substances to enhance, rowing, running, sprinters especially, weightlifters, swimmers, boxers it goes on and on. Im so sorry to telly you, the spectacle as we see it, has not since probably pre 1945 ish ever been completley legit. simple, the more money you have, the better chance you have of not getting sussed out, top american athletes have the best best advice and substances money can buy, and when they talk about designer drugs, what that means is they are basically designed to be untestable, the tests of drugs in sport are very specific, they can only test for substances that the IOC recognise, if it aint on the banned list, and they dont know of a new chemical structure then they cant get done for it bb |

I agree all cheating should get a ban, but imagine how hard it is for them and mistakes do get made. You wake up one morning dying with the cold, make your way to the chemist and then have to spend all day reading through the bottles to find out which one you can take as the others contain a substance on the banned list.

matty, dont even start with horse racing, what they do there is even more criminal, i.e they give female race horses hormones meant for MALE's
yeh far worse, atleast humans have the choice I have on 3 occassions now be approached in a professional capacity to advise on steroid use for race horses. back on topic though, the answer to this one i think is the impossible question, i.e there isnt one

I didn't know you did that!!! I'm surprised you put the figure as high as 80%, I'm shocked but I guess you are better informed than me. There was was discussion about legalising the whole lot and doing away with drugs testing. I guess this would create a sort of level playing field, but what about those athletes that did not want to take any drugs, they would be at a disadvantage, as would those with the least money. As you say BB, it's not a simple problem. I guess I just like to see 'fair play', and that those who achieve success do so in the same way. BTW Is Body building an Olympic event?? Pardon my ignorance... |

80% maybe a tad high bud, but it wont be far off it the temptaion is so high.
Bodybuildings not an olympic event, for years they have mulled over it and it would be amazing to see if infact it was possible to get bodybuilders who could stay totally natural. we have a natural bodybuilding competiton in the UK, but it again is a farce, you get those who come in, juiced up pass the lie detector, cheat all the tests and walk off with the title they have no morals or shame !! so I doubt it will never be an olympic event, And anyway, if your into bodybuilding, what you really really want to see on stage is the real freaks of the sport, and they only get to be real freaks through 4 or 5 years of heavy substance use. I also know what your saying about the abolishment of banned substances, it would indeed open the door to some ground breaking records, BUT again as you say there is the small few who are committed to not taking drugs. But JP, look at the top 10 in all of the sports I mentioned, everyone of thems a user, no doubt atall, talking for experience in most of those disciplines. |
