Excel problem - macro virus?

Can anyone help, i've got a real pain of a problem at work.

I use some quite complex excel spreadsheets at work for doing contaminant migration modelling and over the last week they've graduallly become unusable.

I have to enter data into the sheet and these boxes (and drop down boxes to alter algorythms) have become password protected. Now my best guess is an excel macro virus but i've had no luck finding one (i've tried the dr solomans and the symantec online scanners so far).

Any ideas, it's really causing me a problem now.

Sounds like a similar problem here, Nik.

When I have problems like this, Google often helps. Try searching for "excel password protected virus" and working through some of the entries returned.

Thanks mick, i did try google without much luck.

The IT guy here knew a password to open the protected cell (which the annoying twat wouldn't tell me). Which has given me a temporary fix, he's sure it can't be virsus because the machines are running dr solomans and there's no way a virus would get past that (with it's six month old files) is there

Wait till he goes to the bog and beat the password out of him, mate :evil_mad:

Sounds like IT have made a bit of an up-cock, and are covering their rear ends ...

I would but he's the bosses son. To be fair the spreadsheet came from the environment agency, i'd like to know what password he had though, it seemed to be a overide one for excel.

OK ... put a bag over your head, then beat it out of him
