Just thought I'd share a very scary but VERY very adreniline filled experience I had yesterday.
In my IV travelling along the motorway. Now this motorway is PERFECT for racing as in it starts at some traffic lights, then is nice and straight and VERY long. So I pull up at the lights and to my right pulls up another IV. The usual sizing up occurs, then the lights turn green. We kinda just slowly start rolling but neither of us change gear....then he floors it, so I floor it. 2nd gear, 3rd gear, 4th....by this stage I am just about to change to fifth...(about 160km-170km) and I notice a cop sitting on the side of the road!! I think he noticed to due to his car lurching and sirens blazing!!...we both start slowing...Look at each other with scared faces. Now at this point my heart is going sooooooo fast I think it might pop up through my mouth. Anyway, we were both in 5th gear now, about 150km, cant see the cop in the rear view yet but He aint far behind. The other IV must have thought what I thought when I thought it...we both dropped gear again and took off! Now Im scared out of my mind...I start getting in front of him..My speedo is already at 180km and still going...we are going like this for what seemed like for ever!! It starts getting a little bit windy but not too much. I can defenitely feel the g's trying to pull my car into the barrier but my tires are gripping like super glue. I turn off to the left (over the Haywards if anyone in NZ knows where I am at the moment) Just as I am about to turn into a little side street, I hear the siren and the cop shoot past very much over the speed limit but he has no chance...he's in a holden hahaha.
I get home, park in the garage, (Almost hit the bloody wall) Change my undies and grab a beer and sit down. Heart still going like a jack hammer...but then YEAH!! I made it...phew then the wife gets home and asks..."Whats up?" I just say "...Oh Nothing"
