Cable will eventually replace TV masts and he won't be needed anyway... this TV 'celebrity' thing is definitley getting out of hand... are we now to mourn the passing of a fvcking TV mast steeplejack??? The world has gone mad I tell ya!!!

Fred never accepted the status of "celebrity" He was just a plain old northern lad who enjoyed the plainer things in life. And to be honest He spent 99% of his life up chimneys, church steeples, and the likes, rather than TV masts. Also I never said I was mourning his passing!! Just pointing out his death as a purely topical issue and passing on my condolences as I would anyone else I could relate too and who had died quite suddenly. I for one will miss his northern droll, and wit.

It saddened me! Met him a couple of times when he was at shows with his beloved steam engine!
