Hello, new member-help required please

Hello, Ive just joined.
Im looking to get myself an evo in the not too distant future but im having a little trouble with insurance. Firstly let me apologise as you may find some of the following language offensive lol.
I was weighing up the insurance cost between a Nissan Skyline R33 GTS and an Evo 5.
Im 26yrs old with 7yrs no claims, with 3 points on my licence.
The Skyline was quoted at £597 fully comp but the Evo i was told they were unable to insure me, however when i tried a Japanese car specilaist out of the back of the Banzai magazine the best they could do was 2k.
Im not the most clued up person in the world and im struggling to understand why the Evo is so difficult to insure. Please Help
