newbie

hi guys,

new to the jap scene and looking at buying a evo 4. i have seen one that takes my fancy but want to know what to look for problem wise in these cars as have no knowledge of anything japanese. the car i am looking at is on a "p" plate with 73,000 miles or 101,000 kms. it has just had all timing belts, balance belts and ayc done.

i have been reading all the forum how to's and find this site very helpful.

Hi
Get as much information about the car as you can. Id recommend having it looked over by a professional as there is alot to look for.

what are the main things to look for on these cars. it looks very clean i have looked all round the engine bay and found nothing out of the ordinary. it is a jap import was imported late '07. all the body work looks spot on and it has had no repairs in the past. i have done a gold hpi check and is clean as a whistle on that.

Most important thing is to check the lateral movement on the crank pulley to ensure the car doesnt have the onset of crankwalk.

Do a search on crankwalk which should give you some insight as to what this is and how to check it.
