Hi from Germany

Hi, am British but live in Germany & am, I think, very close to buying my 1st EVO - frankly they seem to be almost giving away low milage EVO 9s here at the moment & my faithful Escort Chavworth is getting somewhat long in the tooth now.

I have some questions, possibly silly 1s but bear with me, I'm new here.

1. Would a (very) average driver such as myself actually notice, in normal road use, the removal of the rear wing?

2. Does anybody know what effect removing the rear wing has on the fuel consumption?

Ok, I am aware that if saving fuel was important I shouldn't be messing with EVOs but my Chavworth's 1 of the 1s without the huge rear wing & in conversation with other owners it does seem to make a difference to the fuel consumption (about 5 mpg worth), there's no noticable effect on the handling & as a bonus for those of us who use unrestricted Autobahns daily it also gives a better top speed, by about 10 mph.

Hope you people can answer my questions - thanks for reading my 1st post & indeed 1st thread.

I have an Evo 8. I very much doubt the rear wing makes much difference to any speeds below about 60mph. I suspect any downforce created would need very high speeds.

At a guess, the rear wing does appear to have very good aerodynamics therefore should have very low drag and therefore little effect on fuel consumption

the rear wings should be more useful when cornering at high speeds.

Also consider how the vortex generators work along the back edge of the FQ400 models, do they help reduce drag?
