Hi guys!
Were still here, just lol! We've just heard that Sheffields dam has cracks in the wall and is about to burst open. We live the otherside of sheffield but the rivers all run through chesterfield anyway. We got power back late last night and have been told it might not last if the weather comes back in again, were pumped water so if thats off so is the water. We have 4 stables here, 2 are storage atm and 2 are converted to an office/gym. They all got flooded last night, the gear out there in storage is pretty ruined. I managed top turn off the two freezers we keep out there before it got too high, dont think they'll work again tho. The office was washed out, I managed to move the computer and some stock and dont think anything much got damaged apart from the floor. The garage was a swimming pool, water was going in the front and out the back through my workshop taking odd loose stuff with it, all down the side of the house is covered in crap I'm gonna clean up this afternoon. Theres a soakaway drain there i need to alter as it cannot take this much rain. Thanks for the offer of help guys but you know I'd just throw u a beer and tell you to put yer feet up lol! I would have took some piccies but it was the last thing on my mind lol! Luckily none got into the house apart from a leak in the kitchen roof (blocked guttering) so were ok there! jon p.s. Me car got bloody wet and had a 4kw generator blowing dirty diesel fumes at her all night

Same here sean.
The garden has more weeds than flowers, the grass is about 2ft high. And we have lots of things to do to the outside of the house and can't get any of it done

I live near Barnsley which has had it quite bad. Luckily i live on the top of a hill so i haven't had my home affected. The next village down the road had the main street flooded & all the side streets that ran down hill were pretty bad. Most of my mates live in that village( Denby Dale) & quite a few had to be evacuated from their homes :???:
I had to pick my g/f up from work Monday last week. Set off well early. Took me 45mins to get their, I used my brain tho & took loads of detours that i knew wouldn't be flooded. She'd said it taken other people 2hrs to get their by the route i'd usualy use & it only takes 15mins normally  I passed some unlucky chap in a new Jag XK who'd tried to drive through a HUUUUUUUUGE flood that covered the entire road. He'd made the mistake of gpicking the route nearest the pavement, where it was at it's DEAPEST due to the road camber The water was above the bottom of his doors. He was just stood on the pavement upto his ankles in water takin pics of his car with his phone. I drove straight up the middle of the road on the white chevrons & i bet it wasn't even a foot deep there so had no probs Quite a few lads from work live in/around Barnsley & Sheffield. They had it quite bad. Poor sodsCraig 8) |
