340 Tuning advice. pleeeez!

Hey all, I'm new to this forum and i'm in need of your expert opinions

I have an FQ-340 MR standard except for a magnex de cat, and starting to get used to the power :P

As far as tuning goes i'm not looking for headline figures just a decent increase in power/torque without increasing lag, and not screwing up the driveability. reliabilty is an issue too.

on the 340 What hks parts are included as standard except dragger, intercooler piping, SSQV etc? Also what boost is standard, 0.9bar? (turbo elbows etc?)

Is it recommended to go down the boost controller, fuel pump, ecutek/motec m800 oem, and assoc. sensors etc, route or will this give me more lag by turning up the boost? What kind of performance increases can i expect?

Would it be worth the cost of an HKS racing suction kit?

Cause i live in Scotland, i don't know of anywhere that would remap using ecutek or motec properly, i live really close to dastek who do the unichip but as far as i know they aint that good for evos. (am i wrong???)

Cheers for the help! :-) :-) :-)

Welcome to the site,

I have an MR340 and basically wanted the same thing.
I have gone down the autronics ecu route and accompanied this with a decat pipe, uprated fuel pump, hks racing suction kit, spec r dump valve and boost controller. This took power output to 388bhp but most importantly the torque to 400 lb ft. This is obviously gonna cost a few grand but well well worth it in my opinion. The cars reliable, loud and very quick with no lag, infact the turbo spools up quicker than standard.

Although I've heard no official reports of engine damage the 340 chip in the world of tuners is considered very poor on such a car and can cause detonation and boost spikes. I had mine hooked up to a boost controller as standard and it boosted to about 1.8bar at 3500rpm then kept tailing off to less than 1bar near the redline. Now I can keep up to 1.7bar with no problems whatso ever.

Good luck with your choice they are great cars

Make sure you let us know how you get on and feel free to ask as much as you want. :-)

Alric
