Odd Engine Stutter

I have this really weird problem that only started happening recently.

When driving along the road normally every now and then the car will stutter and the lights will dim slightly, some times the engine check light will come on as well.

The engine will also stutter when the bonnet is closed.

I'm not sure if this is related but when the car is stationary (Sitting at lights etc.) the idle can roam up to 2000rpm!
if the gas peddle is tapped lightly the revs drop to about 1900 then back up to 2000.

The only mods to the car are a full exhaust, Metal intake, Mushroom filter and an AVC-R.

Could this be the MAF?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First thing I'd do is check your battery terminals and main earth before looking anywhere else :-)

Thanks for that.

I've checked and cleaned the battery terminals and all of the earths in the engine bay, this seems to have helped as the problem is now less frequent. :-)

I had the car in at the Mitsi garage last week and they found that the engine light was caused by a faulty temperature sender which needs replacing (of course they didn't tell me this until I picked it up, so I now have to book it in again ) would this be contributing to the problem as well?
Also does anyone know where it is? I think I do but am not entirly sure ops:

Is there anything else it could be?
