Dipstick popping out...should i worry?

As posted on the other forum

Can anyone help on this?

Everytime i check my oil i notice that the dipstick is out of its housing by half an inch or so.
I assusmed this was just due to the vibration of the engine/road bumps shaking it out but could it be more serious? I havent noticed that its pushing any oil out of the dipstick housing and i dont have an oil pressure gauge

Car is an Evo II RS

Cheers in advance

Martin

Does it only do it if the engine is under boost?

I was just thinking it could be boost pressure escaping into your sump somehow.... My dipstick dented my bonnet when the engine popped

i used pt tape (plumbers tape) wraped it around about 5times and now it doesn't pop out
only do this if ur shore there is nothing wrong and its only poping out because of worn rubber around the top of the dip stick. :-)
