EVO 8 TECHNICAL QUESTIONS

i need a little help with my new mods!

i have an ecutec booked with the dentist later this month so i have just received my new mods and fitted them today ready for the remap

mods are

de-cat

apexi induction

iw 24 plugs

walbro

forge rs recirculating valve

greddy profec b 2

does anyone know what the standard boost should be on the car (evo 8 fq300) and what would be a safe boost setting while im waiting for the remap?

how do you know what spring pressure to set the adjustable forge rs recirculating valve????????? i was shocked when i pushed in the piston on the standard recirculating valve, it was stronger than the forge when the standard spring was fitted so i fitted the uprated spring forge added in the package

also i cant believe how loud the apexi air induction kit is compared to the hks mushroom i had on the evo 6  not sure if i like it yet as it sounds really raw but im sure i will get used to it!!

any help would be greatly appreciated

If you keep your boost settings under 1 bar you will be safe until you are mapped up

I had loads of noise from my cone filter kit also you will get us to it :muhaha:

1.3 will be fine with no problems at all.

I ran 1.45 from my MR 5 speed which has the same engine as the standard Evo VIII.

She will fly after the EcuTek :muhaha:

Ecutek doesn't just allow you to run higher boost. It is programmed for YOUR car.
The Ralliart ECU isn't matched to your car as it comes pre-programmed.

The Ecutek remap also makes the car a lot smoother.

It basically makes sure that all of the parts you have fitted all read from the same job sheet

There are lots of different power figures floating around for different tuning products.

TBH mate the Evo scene has become like the Skyline scene. Just chasing power figures so you can win internet arguments about "whos got the most powerful car/biggest dick".

All the matters is how the car drives and delivers its power. I drove a big HP Evo VII and it was utter wank. Power delivery is all over the place and the powerband was way to narrow. You would be faster round a track/B Road in a standard car

But all the narrow minded see is "550bhp". Its irrelevant to them how it delivers the power.

Enjoy your car with the Ecutek remap and it should be quicker than your VI across country.
The best test for it is a track as you can really get to use the car in safe, controlled environment.
