Oil advice and recommendations here

I get asked many questions about oil so I thought a thread here for all oil related questions would be a good idea and build into a FAQ or reference point for others.

So, put your oil questions here but please give the following information if you would like a recommendation:

Make
Model
Year
Engine size/type

Any mods

Type of use (road/track)

Additional info (max oil temps, current oil used)

What do you want a recommendation for? Engine, Gearbox etc?

I hope this will help and become a useful thread

Regards
Simon

Mitsubishi Evo V for road use air filter and exhaust is the only mods oil for the engine, used Morris Oils (was in Cyprus and that is what the mechanic recomended) now back in the land of snow.

For and Evo5 we would suggest as a top quality option a 10w-50 full synthetic for all year round use.

Brand wise, have a look at the SIlkolene Pro S 10w-50.

Cheers

Simon.

5w-40 is ideal mate, others to look at would be Silkolene, Motul and Amsoil.

Cheers

Evo II, used for trackdays. sprinting, fast road and my weekly trip to Tesco's!

Currently use Silkolene Pro S 10-50w. Have noticed that goes black very quickly indeed, any ideas?

Looking for an oil to put in rear diff. Bought some Motul EP(?) 90w would that do?.

Engine-wise the car is standard apart from an ITG panel filter and a dodgy actuator (creeps up to 1.1bar!)

Cheers

You don't get much better than the Pro S for quality and the 10w-50 is the correct grade for the car.

For the diff try Silkolene Boa 90LS or Motul 90PA

Cheers
