Evo (1) Questions.

I put the Evo (1) in for an MOT today and this is what it failed on.

Emmissions
Front Brake pipes
Bushes
Horn
Idle

My questions are this.

1- One of my mates with a Gti-R recons Imports dont need an Emmissions, I dont think this is true but does anyone know for sure. The car is a 1993 if it helps.

2- Were could i get braided hoses for the brake pipes and how much is it likely to cost.

3- Someone recomended Poly bushes, Again were can i get these and how much.

4- The back box that is on the car had stuff coming out the back of it (horse hair ???), Would this effect the emmissions.

The horn should be easy enough to sort, and im hoping the idle problem is because the air filter wasnt on it. Although the garage recons that wont solve it.

Please help if you can, I NEED this car on the road

Questions added

5- Is the car a "Grey Import"

6- Would poly bushes from a Evo 2 & 3 or any other models fit.

The Centre bit is broke on the Momo steering wheel that has been fitted to it.

I was hoping it could rig it up to a switch till i get a new steering wheel.

has it got a cat? how far out were the emisions? you have to do the emision test on any car but 92 on is far stricter, but it depends if a model report is available for your car

i think the front anti roll bar set up is different on a 1 but most bushes should be the same, horse hair is silencer packing shouldnt affect emisions, has it got an atmospheric dump valve?

Not sure if it has an Atmospheric DV. I think it has a standard one, it makes like a chitter noise that gets quieter. (If that makes sense, lol)

Would it help to put an Atmospheric DV on it.
What else can be done to bring the emmissions down.

you need to know how far out they are. if there way out its your cat, if not it could be a few things, and could be linked to the idle problem, were the emisions ok at 3000 rpm?

Not sure, i'll try to get down the morra after work and get a print out and see what i can do.
He never mentioned much about the emissions. He is gonna get is on the ramps again the morra and give me a price to repair the lot and MOT it.

Im sure some of the traders will be able to help you out mate but in my personnal experience this site is brillient. Im sure it will have all you need :-) http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m8b0s0p0

When i got my old evo 1 mot'd the garage said because it was an import with no model comparison over here and all cars produced before 1996 dont have to have a cat on then the emissions was not a problem. But my evo 3 failed on emissions, mind you was at a different garage. Got it through eventually but still failed but passed if you see what i mean
