intermitant engine problem please help

I was driving along yesterday and after hard acceleration up to about 80 mph I down geared the car, I then noticed the engine warning light on and the car felt like it was running on 3 cylinders, I pulled up and restarted the car and the car was fine for the remainder of the journey ( about 50 miles) I then restarted the car and it drove fine most of the way apart from 2 occasions when I floored it from low rpm as the boost seem to peak it felt like I hit fuel cut (I have only experienced this in my other car) but I was only running 1.1 bar?
then again today the engine light problem returned I restarted the car and it was ok again, has any one else had this problem or have any idea what it could be I’m worried I’ll be out some were and my car will break down and leave me stranded in the freezing cold

rich i thought the cam sensor was inside the engine do you have to strip it down to change this? the fault occured 4 times last night and once today it seems to becoming more frequent now but straight away the car will restart and drive like normal i have also had the crank pully checked for play and it seems solid and there is no wear on the belts the cars is booked in to mitsubishi dealers on saturday for a fault diagnostic check see what the codes are on the ecu.

you can fault code read it yourself mate, dont pay them for it. call me in the daytime on 07786 523137 and i'll explain how.

the cam sensor is the sensor on the front right hand corner of the head where the end of the cam is. only one bolt holding it in

Silly as it sounds make sure all your boost pipes are sealed and jubilee clips are tight....also try unplugging clips to sensors and make sure connection is good i had similar occurance once and unplugging my MAF sensor blowing connector out and plugging back in sorted it worth a try :-)
