Max boost on standard Evo 2

Just fitted my AVCR and wondering how much boost I can run before fuel cut.

Can someone please tell me what the standard boost is and how much I can raise this to with an AVCR ? :-)

Standard boost is around 0.8 I believe.
What other modifications have you done?

Wouldn't run more than 1.0bar, As Baz said standard boost is around 0.8bar

You're thinking of the Evo III T. The Evo I-II can run a bit more boost than the III :muhaha:

Standard boost on a II is 0.7 bar. I Do believe you can go upto 1.3 safely but dont quote me on that.
Best check with petbeemer before you go winding it up

Mine is currently creeping upto 1.1 bar on W.O.T and 6k revs + :muhaha:

Sorry Baz me bad ops:

We haven't done many of the earlier evo's and the ones we have have always be set up to 1.0bar

I would suggest 1 to 1.1 bar.

But check your rad cap first as we had a really nice 2 that was running 1.1 bar and the rad cap collapsed and cooked the engine before we had it. The chap rebuilt the engine we bought it but instead of turning the boost down he turned it up and the engine lasted 3 hours .

The early evo's are know for the rad caps failing, better to be safe than sorry.

T if you want more experience on early evos ours is always available

That would be great thanks T

We always set up the cars to the safest level, we wouldn't consider raising the boost much more than 1.0bar without adequate fuelling and even then wouldn't push it past 1.1 probably

We work closely with RC and most of the time if we have a query run it past them but TBH even they haven't done much work on the early ones :???:

Seems there is very little tuners who do much with the earlier ones, maybe we need an early evo track car

Thanks for all the replies guys and gals !

I have only fitted the AVCR so far and a Greddy boost gauge but I have been collecting quite a few parts. I have a Walbro pump and Sard reg to fit. I have also just bought an SAFC to fine tune. The only other bits on the car are an HKS panel air filter.

The car is going to Petbeemer at the end of March for a chip and exhaust so I'll run it at around 1.2 - 1.3 bar then which seems to be the limit.
I'll also change the plugs then.

I was just after some basic figures so I can program the controller before the car goes to Petes and 0.9 - 1.0 bar seems OK.

Apparently the Sard regs can be troublesome (ie the pressure won't go low enough), however I'll fit mine and see what happens, I'll have to get a pressure gauge to check the fuel pressure at the manifold.

Anyway interesting about the rad cap. I bought an uprated Cusco one which is listed for the early Evo but it won't fit onto my rad. Maybe my rad was changed in Japan for a non standard one ! :???:
