evo 3 over heating? how hot is it ment to be?

evo 3 over heating? how hot?
Went out for a drive today (not a hard drive) and when i pulled up in a car park there was smoke coming from the front of the car I looked around and could not see where the hell it was coming from The engine felt pritty hot and the exhaust shield was so hot that when i spit on it it sizzles away pritty quick. It was raining and seemed that the rain has splashed on the front of the engine and was evaporating cause it to smoke The water temp inside the car is perfect (half way).
Any ideas as am a bit confused

also when i turn the engine off, at the back of the engine near bulkhead it seems to give off a little fart!! (best way i can discribe it)

just dont under stand why it hasnt smoked in the rain before though. The rocker cover is very hot aswell. Can put your hand on it for a couple of seconds and then it would burn you. I have had my sard fuel reg fitted for a while now and there was a very small leak so i tightened up the joints. Would a lean engine run v.hot?

Sounds about right mate! The gauge temp has no corrilation with actual engine block, ancillary, etc, temps.

A weak engine does run hot thats how you get melt down, but just because you cant touch the rocker cover doesn't sound bad, youve probably never noticed it in the rain before!if in doubt do a plug chop!

a combination of water, air and the fan help cool the engine down. If the water temp gauge is reading fine does this mean that the heat of the engine block should be ok?

two strokes as in motorbikes?

I have checked plugs before but only when i changed them. When you look in a haynes manual it gives you a guide to how a spark plug should look. Is this what u mean.

This may be a silly question but you haven't got a slight leak on your rad?
Notice ours was smelling very hot last Wednesday, got it home and there was a slight crack in the head on the rad. Very lucky to notice it. Within 24 hours had a new rad on it. The temp was normal all the time whilst the rad was leaking.
I knew of a lad who had a pug which kept overheating found out it had no anti freeze in it. As this is used as a summer coolant as well.
