Foglight conversion on EVO VI TME

Hi All,

I am about to recieve my lovely EVO VI TME and I know I will need to fit a rear foglihht for SVA testing. I have discussed this with members on the MLR and there are 3 ways that I know of (other than the SVA guys sticking a cheap n nasty foggie at the bottom of the bumper) :

1. Fit them behind the bootlid reflectors (slight modifying, I have the contact for these parts)
2. Whack one right in the centre of the rear bumper face (common with imports)
3. And this is a good one..... a small thin LED foggie fitted into the bottom crease of the rear bumper.

Has anyone fitted the third version onto their EVO ?. Can they advise me where I can source one of these small foglights that wiull fit into the bottom CREASE of the bumper :?:
Thanks. Heres to my new EVO :beerjug:

Hi mate. My old VI GSR had the foglight in the rear cluster. Slight wiring mod to swap the reverse light to the foglight. High power red bulb needed also. Saves the hassle of mounting an extra light

I have heard that the intensity of the LED fog lights doesn't meet SVA requirements.

The couple of occasions i've seen them used a normal dangling thing was temporarily fitted for the SVA, then it was swapped afterwards.

I've had a look but i can't see anywhere that sells them at the moment, I'm pretty sure i've seen them in motorworld places, maybe even halfords. :-?

Cheers Johnny (knoxville !?!) :respekt:

Thats a new one on me ?
So, are you saying its possible that there is the fitment in the rear light cluster ready for a foggie ? Is this the case for imports also ?Do you mean that you then had one foglight on one cluster, and one reverse light on the other ?

I'm confused, as everyone seems to have had to add a new foglight to their imported EVO's.

Thanks for this mate

All you need to do is take the wire that would go to the dangling light and run that to the reversing light on the drivers side, disconnect the existing wire and then put in red high intensity bulb. Easy peasy.

There a lot of cut in fogs, but that's largely because that's how CCC chose to do it with the cars they've brought in.

Great, cheers.

And do you know if that is acceptable for SVA testing ?

That should be fine, the button on the dash must illuminate when the fog is on, it might need to take power from the lighting circuit too so the fog only comes on when the lights are on, but i'm not too sure about that.

I am less sure about the ESVA test though i'm afraid.

Bloody SVA testers !!!!! :evil_mad: :evil_mad:

So much grief with sorting out the foglights - they say they won't approve any work done by myself, has to all be done by them - money makers or what ?! :x

I've ordered the foglight converwsion from co-ordsport to fit (with alot of work) behind the bootlid reflectors... but no, SVA won't have it !

I've got to find the dosh for the full SVA and also the insurance as they can't complete the registration without it :x :x :x
THEWN, I can convert backthe things they have done to the way I want them - this life ain't fair

So much to do, so little money to use - Grrrrrr ! Just want to get out n about in the bloomin car - frustration or what.
