What does it take ?

I've just had a RR session and got a reading of 398 BHP @ 6591 revs.

I could do with knowing what could have been done to my engine to get this figure.

The guy said there was no det and the fuelling was spot on.

I know the following parts are fitted

uprated pump
titanium turbo (I think)
Greddy Boost Controller (approx 1.3 BAR)
Decat with full HKS Exhaust
HSK Racing Suction Kit , with cold air feed
hard pipe IC kit

and I was running on optimax with millers octane booster

he said there was more left in the car but he didnt want to push it until I could tell him what else had been done

any ideas what it would take to get that figure from an Evo VII ??

it also seems pretty accurate as all the other guys were getting withing a few BHP of previous runs on other RR's

the engine was origionally supplied by arnside, so I guess I'll phone them next week to see if they can tell me anything

Phil

I had a quick look at the ecu and it looked standard, but I never took it out or opened it up to see if had any thing inside that wasnt standard, I think that'll be a job for this week.

the only worry really that I have is internally, will the standard evo internals take that power or could something have been changed inside ?

Great figures, particularly at only 1.3 bar. 8)

I'd say you definately had an aftermarket ECU, the new one just fits in the stock case so it wouldn't look any different.

I would hope that at that power the internals will have been uprated, but give Wayne a call, he's a really nice helpful bloke and i'm sure he'll give you all the help he can. The only option is a strip down to check which would be a bit extreme.

I could easily be wrong but to get that power a only 1.3 i'd guess you've probably had a new turbo too.

I'd guess you got about another 50hp coming from somewhere other than the kit you've got listed. Turbo and ECU may do it.

cheers guys, the first job is to take out the ECU, open it up & see whats in there.

concerning the internals, a bit ott I know, but I've seen guys in the past that just put some sort of microscope probe in the oil filler to look at whats going on in there, is this feasable ?? or is it a stripdown job ??

either way I'm pleased with the results..

BTW..

wheres Jas today

Fantastic results there Phil

Definately sounds like there is something funny there Phil, you'll have to keep us posted with what you find out!

Edited to say that at 1.3 bar boost those figures are crazy....on a standard VII turbo with the mods you have stated above, the car should push out 340-345bhp @ 1.3 bar, and with the boost wound up full should only produce 380bhp max :-? :?:

Whatever is going on in there ........something is not quite working out right. :-?

OK , heres what I've found:

The ecu case is standard and has the numbers MR560648 on it , which after a search comes back as a genuine EVO VII ECU. but the last 2 numbers (4 & 8 ) have been crossed out in marker pen and on the metal ecu holder are the figures I8 in the same marker. I couldnt find any info on this though.

other numbers on the case are E6T34871 HI 1322
and under these 063 , but these are all on the origional mitsubishi sticker/stamp

I took the actual board out of its casing and nothing seems to have been messed with, however theres 2 or 3 spliced wires that come from the ecu ,the first is the white wire on the first large plug on the left whitch then connects to a thick green wire which has PEXCS-1A S.J.D. stamped on it

I couldnt follow these but they seemed to go through the bulk head to a little black box which says Greddy on it (which I imagine is for the boost controller)

other than that I'm at a loss

can anyone shed any light ??

Cheers

Phil
