Help needed chaps!!!!
I have a 2.5 inch bullitt downpipe, decat, 3.5 inch apexi exhaust and dump valve.
I am getting boost creep all the time now when my foot is flat to the floor for any amount of time!!! I have been advised to get one of these http://www.machv.com/motuho.html Will this: a) Fit an Evo 1 b) Eliminate the creep c) Have any other positive effects on the cars performance What do you reckon guys? :?: |

there is another solution! run external waistegate i have one for £50 s/h have that welded to your original manifold and run a pipe to the floor 'open' cuz it sounds great,no boost creep ever! weld, bolt or glue your internal one shut.hey presto jobs a good 1 and cheap by far than that!
I run one on the red 2 will post some pics when i get home if your interested!

Yeah definatley post some pics mate. Could be well interested.
Can you explain how an external wastegate works and the advantages of having one!! 8) Also how hard is it to weld it on and block the internal one!!! Bit untechnical me!!! ops:

its not hard really its just finding someone who can weld dissimilar rods(cast steel)
benifits are no more boost creep! dumping pressure through whatever size wastegate your using(38mm)and its instant, flames and noise out the bottom of car(fun)

MMMMMM Not sure which way to go?!?!?
Just to answer my inital question will the new turbine housing eliminate the creep?? Also what other performance gains would be gained from: a) New housing b) external wastegate Cheers bud! |

housing wont do anything, its the actuator that controls the gate(the goldish coloured thing nxt to turbo)when pressure builds in the turbo its trying to open the gate and bleed off down the exhaust pipe, the spring pressure and diaphram in the actuator are whats keeping it shut,so you have more pressure than the actuator can handle! uprated actuators are around £150ish think bazza does them on here.
An external one dumps pressure quicker,is more tunable and can handle far more pressure cuz of its size! that housing is a waiste of time(in my opinion)as if you were to go to that route then you may as well buy a complete custom turbo!

The reason I want the housing is to prevent boost creep first and foremost.
It was recommended to me by someone on the MLR. He ported his own internal wastgate and added a larger flapper which is effectively what this housing will do! I can't really afford a new turbo setup. An actuator works out more than the housing!!! So does the external wastegate just weld directly on to the turbo and then a pipe runs off it, downwards?? Just weld up standard wastegate and hey presto you're done yeah?? |

yes m8 thats basically it exept you weld it to your manifold!
stub bit of pipe off manifold with flange on the end (supplied) bolt gate to it,and run blow pipe either straight down to the floor or back into exhaust, upto you
