Stalling when cold and slight hunting when warm..
hay guys maybe u can shed some light no this..
When i start the evo from cold it is really rough and if i dont keep the revs up it will stall.... this only happens for about 10 seconds.. after that it will stall if im at full lock.. all this time it is not idling at all well..also when cold i get a ticking noise from the engine.. Now when warn the ticking noise is gone and the car idles a bit better but it is still hunting a bit... I have changed the plugs and leads just not 100% where to go next.. any help will be great... Thanks in advance people

Could be worth checking the idle control valve, symptoms sound a posibility :-?
Check it out by having the air con off and starting the engine, once started put the air con switch on and see if the engine trys to stall or the revs drop.......If they do it sounds like the idle control valve could be on the way out! Hope this helps, let me know how you get on. Tina. xx

Hi,
As Tina said the idle control valve (stepper motor) sounds like a good start. This info is from the seven but should be of some assistance. |

Have you got a dump valve fitted mate ? if so how long ago was it fitted ? and have you checked all the silicon hoses on the car ?
The ISCV can be checked by starting the car and then pulling the connector off it, in effect disconnecting it, if the car then idles fine, your ISCV is faulty, sometimes, they can get clogged with oil and residue, so a clean up with a cleaning fluid MIGHT sort it. |
