induction and dump valve question?
Just a few questions for ya all recently brought a evo 4 with an evo 8 engine in tuned by jps motorsport very nice thank u just wanted to upgrade a few bits and would like some advice on wat is the best to go for.
Right a currently have a hks filter but i have heard bad things about these so looking at gettin a new one so wats the best on the market that isnt foam etc? Also have a dump[ valve which is making the car slump now and then on idle nothing major have had an opinion from my mate who is into his evos and he says to get a new one so wats the best to go for? Will get some pics up soon guys but first let me no yr opinions n=much appreciated. Daz |

In terms of induction you are better off getting a decent indiction kit (pipe and filter). All well known brands are much of a muchness and i doubt you are going to see any performance difference between them. If your not running huge power, save your dosh and just put in a good panel filter (HKS, K&N).
As for dump valve, if you are still using a MAF and a dump valve that vents to atmos then you are always going to have the slump on idle issue. You could try getting a harder spring for your current dump valve which should improve it a little. If you want improved performance youre better off spending money on an exhaust, de-cat, boost controller, fuel pump.

Ok cheers mate , the car is running around 350 at the moment it has been fully rebuilt about 10,000 miles ago with eagle internals just got to get it mapped so its pushing out 400 bhp. The next thing b4 these things is definatly that boost contoller as i am only running0.8 of boost

what turbo are you running ? I doubt you would see 350hp on a stock turbo only running 0.8bar boost regardless of supporting mods.
