Is this for the 3 or the 8?
If it's for the 3, you could look at one of the data loggers that plugs into the OBD1 port. I've just got my system and am installing it as I type - Cliff showed me his (oo er) at WRC and looks like it provides knock readings with alarms as well as info like injector duty cycle, rpm and diagnostic information. I bought mine from handheldhalo, but I see that pocketlogger is currently on offer from the states for $75 - I would have probably gone for that if I'd known. If it's for the 8, your probably looking at some exepnsive box of flashing lights from the usual suppliers :-) |

hi mate.
its for the e3. i wanted to get the safety side sorted before i mess around with the engine. anyway im very interested !. i use to have karputer in the e8 so wouldn't mind building up another and getting the full graphics handheldhalo version. i take it these use the std knock sensor from the std ecu? how accurate is that though? also i was thinking of getting the power fc which i believe also have a built in knock sensor and display. so shall i take the plunge and get that kit instead or get this and ask pete to remap my evo3 ecu? thanks for the info, its going to be a late night researching into these two

karl do you know if his ecu’s have a data logger as well? i know you can refine the map yourself with a obd1 cable but i cant remember if there is a data logger included in his software........if so then that should also include a knock display. probably wont be a real time display but would be a good starting point?
yeh i also saw his car run and seemed fine during the run but not sure why it kept on cutting out once off boost / cooling down period. im in two minds.........power fc or ecu remap..... tina could you send me some options on the knock sensor then? thanks :-) |

just pulled this info off his pete's site
dont know how old it is as he said its a work in progress: -------------------------------------------- Realtime control over High/Low ignition High/Low fueling Injector size Injector dead time Maf compesation Idle stepper motor control Closed loop air/fuel/throttle control Speed cut Boost cut Rev limit Fuel cut Octane adjustment map Air flow correction ----------------------------------------- he’s got the main setting such as high/low ignition, high/low fuelling and octane adjustment map. but surprisingly no knock sensor. |

I've ran one of his ecu's for well over a year now and not had a problem, the cutting out has nothing to do with it i think thats his idle stepper motor.
also the data logger shows knock useing the stock knock sensor, hope this helps http://www.forum.autofixed.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=221 if you need to know anything else petes the man to speak to just give him a bell. |
