Evo IX - Jap Import
I've decided to turn over to the dark side - being a Scooby owner for a while I've decided Evo's are the way to go!! :hehe:
My local Jap Importer (www.bluchip.gg - bit of advertising there!!) is going to be looking at initially Evo IX or VIII. I would really value any advice on the following:- 1) Having never sat in or driven an Evo could anyone give me any main differences (pro's or con's) to the drive comfort, ride, performance etc 2) Am I correct in saying the GSR is the top Jap model for the IX? This is the one with HID and all the extras? 3) Any pitfalls in owning an imported Evo IX (or VIII) - i.e. cost of servicing, frequency of servicing 4) Insurance costs (26, clean licence, 7 yrs NCD etc..) Any further info would be REALLY appreciated as my dream car has always been an Evo since the VI came out but I want to make sure I'm not leaping before looking! Thanks PJ |

the best IX import is the 9GT, they have the recaro trim and the RS LSD in the rear

welcome pj..
best to buy from the uk as there are some good deals to be had. if you want basic racing spec then get the GT otherwise for more comfort i would get the GSR. (elec windows, ac, hid, etc) evos have a harder ride, better performance then the scoobys. servicing (every 4500miles) will be the same for import or uk cars, unlike scoobys mitus have no problems serving imports. insurance is tricky. your area is a big factor but im paying £900 for 27yrs old, 9yrs ncd, 6 points, comp, garaged etc. happy to help jav

Also WORD OF WARNING! Their is only a couple of people in the country with a model report for 9gt s which is needed to get them SVA d,and they wont lend them out so its ni on impossible to get it SVA,d
As lee has said the 9GT is deffinately the 9 to go for and they do come up for sale occasionally over here.Barry at DCY has a silver one arriving soon

Thanks for the advice folks, really appreciate it.
Couple of things - the 9GT - does anyone have any links on this as I can't find much about, especially pictures! The importer I was chatting to yesterday told me basically Mitsu import GSR's and effectively rebadge them for the FQ-400's (may not have been gsr, maybe MR). Ta PJ |

hi mate
mitsubishi do import evo 9s and rebadge them as the FQ models ie:FQ300, FQ320, FQ340, FQ360 they have never made a 9 in the FQ400 spec (because it was not very good) also uk mitsubishi have not imported any 9GT`s for road use, if you need any info on the 9GT then give barrie a call at disinctive cars at york or go on his website he has a silver one on its way from japan BUT BE QUICK BECAUSE THEY SELL VERY QUICK. good luck mate lee |
