hello stick driver. :muhaha:
i've gotta ask. do you have to take a driving test to drive a manual (stick) because most of the cars are automatic over there(if i remember rightly)?
how long did it take you to learn how to drive a manual?

Hey all

No, no driving test for a stick here. When you take the test for your license you just drive whatever car you've been learning on....makes no difference to them. As long as you keep it on the road and obey all the laws...they dont care if its auto or stick. But yes, the majority of cars here are auto's. Alot of people dont know how to drive stick here....most are female lol...which is why I get such crazy reactions when people know I drive a stick lol. Its amusing.

As far as how long it took me to learn. Well I drove hubby's old junker for about 15 minutes that was my crash course introduction. That was about 2 years ago. I understood mechanically how to do it then, just needed to fine tune, ya know?
Didnt even try again until about 2 months ago when I decided I wanted to drive the evo and gas was just too expensive for me to drive the 8cylinder truck as a DD.
Let me just say the Evo isnt too easy to learn on!! lol As sensitive as it is...ioy haha. I caught on pretty quick though really. 2 or 3 20 minute practice sessions and then a couple little chore runs with hubby in the car (my request lol) and I was on my own. Now he cant get me out of it LOL!!! :muhaha:
So all in all...from start till I could actually drive without anything crazy happening...2 hours total drive time? I've been fine tuning as Ive been driving.... so to go from start to where I can drive it with smooth transitions through all the gears...maybe 3 or 4 weeks? The fine tuning was the hardest part to me.
Hubby said I was a natural. ops: Now I want an Evo X (omg so HOTT!) :muhaha:

Oh funny story. In the first week I was driving alone all the looks and stuff I got as a girl driving an Evo was priceless lol! The best though was a kid who pulled up next to me at a light and his passenger (another young guy like the driver) hung out the passenger window towards me. I happen to see movement out of the corner of my eye and heres this kid gesturing wildly trying to catch my attention (my window was closed) and when I looked at him he screamed "I want you!!!!" I about died laughing
