The AYC pump only runs for a few seconds when the ignition is switched on.

If the required pressure has not built up in this time, then the AYC control unit will display a fault

As you say, the car has been stood for a while, so can you see any leaks around the pump unit?

If you can see a leak, keep going on and off with the ignition to allow the system to pressurise, (Say every 5 seconds) and see if the light goes out and stays out If it does, check the fluid level and get any leak looked at ASAP.

If not matey, you're more than likely looking at a new pressure switch

The only way to be 100% sure though is to get hooked up to a MUTII for a proper diagnosis

You could also try pulling the fuse for 10 mins to reset the Control Unit, just incase it has a critical error logged that isn't there any more

Hope that helps :-)

Pretty much what Chris has said mate,

Get yourself along to someone with a MUT II and they will read the codes for you.

Best to get it checked out
