New clutch...all sorts of weird noises :!

Got an Exedy Organic clutch kit fitted today. Slightly worried about 1 or 2 of the resulting noises though. Firstly i get a low frequency baulking/vibration on overrun in high gear which appears to be travelling down the prop to the rear diff :???: Secondly if i drive with the window open i can hear a constant ticking (seemingly 1 tick per turn of the wheels :???:
Can anyone help?

BTW. I know there have been lots of threads about odd noises after new clutches being fitted but ive done a search and, to be honest, the noises others describe are different to those im experiencing!

Cheers
Martin

Hmm dont sound very clever mate. I would say that the first problem you have mentioned would def be clutch orientated maybe due to the person fitting. The ticking could just be a stone stuck in the tread of your tyre. Prob not but worth a look.

Speaking about the prop thing i have had a drone on my prop ever since i owned
the car it sort of throbs above a certain speed (80) not really worried about it too much
as it could be a balancing wieght lost?
Another question for the techies :???:
Without looking at my evo prop properly i wouldnt know if they are on there or not.
Not being an expert but in my escort days they
used to balance props with bits of steel plate and usaully one of the plates had come of
thus throwing the balance out at certain speeds.
But to be honest with you if it didnt make the noise before then i would be tempted to take it back
to the person who fitted it and say something.

MArtin,
The noise on overrun is normal with an uprated clutch, its due to the uprated damper springs on the friction plate not being able to dampen the vibes from the engine like the stock ones do so you get to hear more of them...stock clutch dampener springs have had many hours of testing to get right rate to absorb the vibes... . when i had my uprated Spec clutch fitted along with new gearbox i thought he noise was from box so took it back of again and got it stripped for another inspection....no problems in there so refitted and noise still there...changed everything else including transfer box and prop bearings among other things and non made any difference.... then when i changed the clutch to a Raceclutch from OZ and noise went ... the Raceclutch's use a stock friction plate and springs which is reworked to make it 4 puck paddle with carbotic pucks but keeping stock damper springs...this gives the 'perfect clutch' ....silent running but capable of holding loadsa torque

Yours is normal....either have to learn to live with it ( which i couldnt!) or change it for something like the Raceclutch i have

The ticking noise is prob a stone/nail in tyre or maybe the stone shield behind disc needs a tweak.

Cheers
Ian

That is an interesting concept as i was thinking of an organic myself but this seems to have put me off!!

So if this seems too be a prob what can i do as looking for a good fast road clutch (wont wear out too quick)
,not too heavy (on or off) and has a good bite??? :-) :-)

Scared of crankwalk??
