Transfer Box Refurb?
Hi guys,
I keep finding out lots of different views on an E6 Transfer box and wonder if anyone could put the issue to bed for me.
Is it possible to refurbish a worn transfer box or do you have to buy a second hand one or a new one?
If a new one are they expensive? sure I know the answer :muhaha:

There must be someone out there who knows the answer to this as it would be interesting.

hi tina
wouldn’t it be cheaper to get a 2nd hand box rather than a refurb? when i had mine done a new crown wheel and pinion where asking silly money but a 2nd hand box was only around £500-800.

Surely though i have been thinking of a new gearbox and second hand always makes me a little dubious
as you never really know what your buying until you put it on and you only have the word of the person
you purchased from.

The one we did last week was a problem with the bolts being sheered ....in a case like this its better and cheaper to repair, the job wasn't a big one and the customer left a happy bunny :-) Was cheaper than buying 2nd hand one and as mentioned, you never really know what you are getting if you buy 2nd hand unless the car has done very little miles.
TBH it all depends what is wrong with it babe, as to whether its worth fixing or not

Would agree with that too though, if you get to know a good contact who only trades in top quality bits you are half way there :muhaha:
There is some pretty decent 2nd hand stuff out there for the Evo's

i've lost count with the number of transfers i've had to fit new bolts into.i have 2 of my own sat here right now i no longer need going for cheap money(£200 each) and one is fitted with the E7 on front lsd which doesn't use the silly countersunk bolts on the lsd.
