engine/gearbox gear stick moving in fifth gear

hi there first of all im new to this site so hi to everyone, can anyone help out there i have an evo1 recently i have noticed when accelerating the gear stick doing alot of moving, doesnt do it in any other gear apart from fifth any ideas can you help many thanks adam

hi ,welcome to the site,have a look at your engine and gearbox mounts,and especially the two (anti eng roll) mounts on the member goin fr to back just under the g/box.

STOP driving it!!!!!!!!!!! Inside the gearbox there are two shafts which the gears are on. They are all held together on each shaft by a very large nut. 36mm if i remember correctly. Whats happened is these nuts have worked loose and have started to undo and if they come off they will shoot out the side of your gearbox at a fare rate of knots :shock: :shock:
Where abouts are you in the uk ? I have done this job a fair few times on other peoples cars and is pritty easy.
Will find the link for you so you can see how the job is
