Slight worry i have, probably nothing but advice needed

Hi guys just asked about one probelm on an other part of the forum but I have another here

Very occasionally (3-4 times in 800 miles) when reversing slow i.e (going from 1st to reverse or vice versa) the car transmission seems to engage with a quite large amount of noise, dont think it is clutch related as it is smooth gear change just when starting to move its as if the drive chain has stuck and it then releases with a loudish noise.

Wondering is this a typical evo traite or does anyone have any ideas for me to check or look into.

Car is serviced soon so will get it all looked at but I just like to try and have a look myself for peace of mind.

Thanks

Hard to tell without hearing it first hand but could just be a slightly worn syncro. If the appearence of the problem is that rare, I wouldn't worry too much :muhaha:

Had that thought myself as when putting it in gear 1st or 2nd it is occasionally a bit stiff but nothing to worry about I dont
think.

I have noticed that thet do seem to need revs when pulling away as opposed to my skyline gtr that I could pull off easy with out even using the accelerator so I think most of it is me getting used to the style of the car.

When you use the car i.e. put your foot down throught the gears the car seems so tight and there are no signs that it has any problems with the transmission.

I have noticed that the transmission is abit whinny (spelt wron I am sure!) when you are de-accelerating.

The gearbox has been recently rebuilt by a ralliart guy due to the gears being shimmed incorrectly, so assume it was all done correct.

Is the transmission on the evo whinny in general or is this something that I should start to get worried about?

I forgot what it was like to own a fats Jap Car always worrying to much lol

Sounds to me like you are worrying about nothing. Evo's are plastic and crap.
They make strange noises from time to time and you have to get used to it. :muhaha:

I wasn't suggesting they can Tuppy.
I was simply re-assuring Mr GTR that his problem is common with Evo's.

Thankyou please.

Exactly. Put it through its paces on track and it creaks, rattles and bangs like fook. I just shrug it off now
Strange thing is, drive something thats NOT AN EVO on track and it rattles and bangs and you are paranoid that something will break :woohoo:
