SPA Trackday 21st Aug

I have just had an e-mail from a friend of mine that runs trackdays in Belgium, he's got some openings for a trackday at SPA coming up on the 21st Aug.

200 Euros for the day
No Noise limit

Some of the club is already over in Germany at the ring, this is the Monday before we come back.

Just kicking the ball around atm to see how much interest we have.

Matt

The 21st is the Monday before we come back

The track is open from midday

Not too sure if it will meen a lot of running around when you could be running the ring in the afternoon with no stress

I'd be keen to go there if we can, it's kind of on the way back anyway isn't it.

Is this run by the guy based at Zolder?

If so you should be aware of the overtaking rules before you book, they are not the same as a UK trackday.

Basically you overtake like it is a race and rely on the fact that neather person wants to damage thier car

I was concerned about this when I had my briefing at Zolder, but it did seem to work without any incidents. However this was from a spectators view, I did not drive with many others on the track since I was thrown off after about 1 hour for being above the 95dB noise limit (but thats another story )

I hope this does not sound negative, I would still consider going if I were out there, but I think this is an issue that may effect some peoples ideas about that track day.

Matt, if it is not the organiser that I am thinking of, then perhaps you would want to check the overtaking rules and let the others know.

Read more carefully!

The 95dB noise limit I mentioned was at Zolder not Spa. As Matt says originally, Spa is unlimited for noise.

I was only commenting on the overtaking issue, assuming it is Andy from Zolder organising the event.

From Wikipedia.

"It is almost certain that the Formula 1 race will be back in 2007 where the track layout will once again change. The Bus Stop chicane towards the end of the lap will move back towards Blanchimont and the La Source hairpin will move forwards more, to allow more space for the new pit/paddock complex. This will mean a longer start/finish straight."

Looks like this year would be the last time to drive the circuit as it has been for the last 38years.

Check out the old circuit before 1968 it was 9.3miles long and was sooo fast.

Another thing I didnt know, Spa was a public road until 2000.
