Water Spray Operation

Hi there folks!

long time -no post!

Here's one for those in the know!

Does anyone have any idea of the "algorithm" for the auto setting on the intercooler spray.

i.e. under what conditions does the ECU operate the spray and whether it pulses or stages the water delivery etc.

I have a JDM EVO VII

I tought the spray comes on if the throttle is fully open for 3 seconds... that might be a myth I heard though

I think that the ECU takes a number of inputs and calculates the necessity to activate the spray.

I believe that some of the inputs monitored are:

Throttle position.
Road Speed.
Boost.
Inlet temperature.
RPM.

Perhaps the ECU calculates projected charge temp from a matrix of these inputs and actuates the spray.

I want to know if that's actually what it does and how it controls the amount of spray required.

I think that engine (coolant) temp may be an input also.

I know that elswhere (MLR) there was a post which had a basic block diagram of the IC spray system.

If I can find it, I will post a link.

That makes more sense than what I had heard. If you find out mate post it here as I am interested in how it works now! maybe ever try to recreate the effect on my car, I don't think I have used the button more than twice.
