Fuel Pump Installation Help Needed

Just wondering if anyone could lend a hand fitting an Evo 4 fuel pump to my Lancer GSR. Its basically the same as the Evo 1-3 but i cant get the hard pipe to the cradle loose and dont really want to risk messing it up!

Im in north west london and normally go to rich@rgmotorsport but he's booked up till 30th jan and i really want to get it done before then as ive also got gizzmo'd ecu, evo injectors and evo maf to fit. Should free up some more horses :-)

Willing to travel if anyone can help!

hi matey

I have done it on my evo 2 about 4 times now and been in so much pain every time lol.

I presume its the same on yours. if you get underneath the car the pipe should run down from the tank and will have another join that you can get to underneath. should undo from there. i had to cut the floor slightly under the seat to get the pipe to come out.

I'll take a pic of mine tomorrow if you like. gonna swap mine again this weekend hopefully.

Either that or do it the dodgy way which is the way i did it  Looking at the pipe from the top (the one you cant get off) cut through it with a hack saw carefully!! Then comes out a piece of pi$$. Re-join it with some tight fitting fuel pipe and some jubilee clips. Top tip....dont have fag in gob whilst doing this and if you blow yourself up its not my fault  should do a disclaimer really seriously though..i did it this way and can change the pump around as many times as i want with no bother and has never leaked fuel :-)

when i did mine undid the pipe by wheel arch as paul suggested then grab the flexible pipe that runs to pump with some pliers and pull to straighten it. Then undo pipe through acces hole, will come undone easily no need to enlarge acces hole or cut through fuel pipe.

It's a real pain in the ass!

But the easiest way is to attack it from under the car, That pipe that is connected to the hard pipe on the cover run's through to the underneath of the car and makes it very difficult. I tried from above it's nigh on impossible.

If you see Pete (petbeemer) on here as him as he did mine for me and it was quite easy well he made it look easy.

Deffo the way forward Ben,i cut mine on the intake to the tank, went underneath and cut the union off altogether, then just used 8mm fuel injection rubber pipe and jubilee clips to join them back up,miles easier than fanning around every time trying to undo the unions
