Are Evo ECUs 'self-learning' ?

Just wondering how long it takes for the ECU to re-adjust, if at all, after fitting an item which effects air/fuel ratio e.g. exhaust?

Cheers

Why would you want to??? If you've changed anything on the car resetting the ecu will only reset it to its previous state unless you had an error.

Did you have a scoob before the evo by any chance??? :???:

from what i understand you can reset the ecu by removing the battery terminal for a couple of mins.the ecu then relearns what the engine needs through the sensors.i think

Nope! Drove one, didnt like it so got a proper car :muhaha:

Was just that i put a decat on recently and was a bit dissapointed by the lack of low-down torque. Was just wondering if the ECU was still trying to adjust itself to deal with the greater air-flow?
Bit academic at the mo anyway as i've put the car back on 8)

M8 all an ecu does is read voltage from various censors around the car and compares them in a look up table to output voltage to injectors and ignition at whatever the censors tell it there at,resetting will get you nowhere even if theres an error, the error would be a censor down.
When youve fitted the decat same as going to large on the exhaust you loose bottom end grunt(torque)that then gets moved to the top end were you see a gain, the only consalation is that this is the engine in its 'real' state and should give better pick up due to less back pressure and better mpg due to pumping losses, running a slightly rich mixture at bottom end will get the torque back a little
