Boosted and unsure

Ok, so i figure ill ask and look like a complete newb.

This Vr-4 is my first factory turbocharged car. It has an aftermarket Autometer boost gauge.

Now since me and friends only used to play n/a i dont know what or how the guage should be acting. Andsince i havent had alot of wheel time in it, b/c of clutch prob.

Starting and tinkering on mydriveway is best i can do.

when im idling, the boost is in the negative, when i rev it, it climbs but i dont think it goes to positive. even at readline.

what should it look like, driving? idling? revvin?

thanks again, u guys rock!

assuming you are running about 0.8 bar of boost then when you put your clog down the turbo kicks in and under load the boost gauge should be reading just over 11psi mate

you wont see any positive pressure just revving at idle. with load on the car, ie when driving, you should see positive boost at whatever yours should run standard.

At idle it should be negative boost, when you rev with no load it should make zero boost and with load when you are driving on the road you will make boost

Bit like what Rich just said :muhaha:

then again when you rev it at idle it will not make any meaningful boost................if you drive it it should boost on the positive scale..........................

eh Rich............................!!! LOL
