Plugs and timing belts

Hi all,
I had a couple of questions and thought that someone here could possibly help me. Looking at the Evo service document on the site I realised that the above mentioned parts are to be changed every 45k miles or 5 years!!!
That came to me as a surprise for the plugs. Is it true that they can stay on the car for so long?
Also regarding the timing belts, if one of the timing belts breaks will it cause damage to the engine or due to it being low compression it won't? Reason I am asking is my car is 5 years old but hasn't completed the 45k miles for the belt change. By the way the car has no mods.

Thanks in advance,
Greg

That is the Ralliart service document mate. You should be thinking about having the belts changed if your car is 60 months old. Doesn't matter if the car has done 10k miles in 5 years. You are supposed to have it done
