Speed De-Restrictor
Hi there!
I have a Japanese Import Evo VII. I would like to remove the 180kmh speed restriction. I would like to retain the original ECU. Can any one give me advice on these options: Cut the VSS signal to the ECU. I have read this on a blog as having been performed on a VI - no adverse behaviour noted. Place a speed pulse "multiplier" (divider) on the VSS signal wire. eg 180kmh "looks like" 90kmh. Other more sophisticated forms of signal modifier which allow the ECU to receive normal signals right up to the point just before the speed limiter kicks in (180kmh speed limit-aware) and then hold that "pre limited" speed signal (say, 175kmh) up to a pre-determined (programmable or otherwise) speed eg. 260kmh. Clear as mud? |

Can anyone please tell me the cost involved in getting a car de-restricted .....?????I thought it was just a case of a speedo modification.IE-From kms to mph,Then the cars see the 180 klm`s as 180mph....????

e1-e3 cable based gear box adaptor just screw onto cable/box about £40 e4 onwards about £50 for chip you have to solder it onto spedo wire from gear box this will convert to mph and delimit engine easy to do if your ok with soldering iron

One minor detail I forgot to mention:
I am in Australia. I need to retain the kmh readings. It's just the speed de-restrictor function that I am interested in. Does any one have any proven knowledge of the relationship between the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) input and the behaviour of the ECU? |
