Collecting fault codes

Hey guys/girls havent been around for a while (got a new hobby) problem is,my evo 5 has got an intermittent problem. It seems that after chopping down from 5th gear into 4th,and blitzing the others who insist on driving at LESS than the speed limit, when changing back into top gear, it goes into limp home mode....It has done this 5 or 6 times in the last 2yrs and always after a passing maneouvre . The fault code of late is code 44 "ignition signal 1"
Any ideas where I can start looking??

Rhyno........... Hey bazza how ya been m8?

Pics of my other love in my gallery........Still an Evo!....kinda

Good of you to drop by again!

Engine ECU fault code 44
44 Ignition coils; power transistor units
Abnormality in ignition system (failure in one

Here's the photo as promised, this was the only clear shot out of about 30 that I took... Instructions are on the photo, the LED will blink - long blinks = 10's, short blinks = 1's and it will repeat the code/s over and over. I think if it continually flashes there's nothing wrong (but I'm not 100% sure on that).

Cheers
Rhyno
