When do you think you need to change the fuel pump??

Hi Guys,

When do you think you need to change the fuel pump. I,m runing my Evo upgraded up to 370 bhp but with the standard fuel pump. Need I change to get better air/fuel ratio ?? It´s worth the change?? :driving:

I would say it's definately worth changing it. They aren't very expensive and i'd have thought that at 370bhp you're pretty near the limit of the standard pump, particularly if you've done a few miles with your car and it's getting a little tired.

I'd change it mate. For how much they cost, it isn't worth the risk.

On a 6 it's a bit of a bugger, although i think it can be done by freeing the tank without removing it or some people have changed the pump with the tank in place, but it involves cutting and then repairing the fuel lines. It's not something i've done myself though.

On the VII onward it's just straight into the tank via the access under the back seat. No need to remove anything else.

Most of us use the walbro 255L/hr pumps.

These guys are quite cheap and ship internationally.

Think you're kind of border line on needing the regulator. If you have the money i'd get one put on and set up to be safe.
