intermittent erratic idle on VII

intermittent erratic idle................. swallowed a dictionary tonight that's if I've got the spelling right ops:

It doesn't happen very often, but now & again at idle it will rise slowly to around 1500rpm & stay there, then be ok for a while, then do it again............... & it's doing my head in :evil_mad:

The engine is up to temp when it does it..................... anyone help?

Car is std apart from Magnex cat back & HKS panel filter.

Could be your idle control valve hun :-?

Have you done anything before you noticed it happening or did it just start all of a sudden?

Are you running standard ECU?

The idle control valve is situated under the throttle body hun, but not sure it is that :-?

It could also be the EFI temp sensor unit hun, especially with it happening when the engine is up to temp babes, The temp sensor is located in the thermostat housing just under the EGR valve

Its on the right hand side of the engine at the back....its next to the inlet manifold.

There are 2 bolts on the exhaust manifold, follow the pipe all the way round to the right hand side of the engine and it is there

think I've found it, is it bolted to the back of the inlet manifold (right side) with 2 small bolts & a brown electrical connector on it with 3 wires?

If so, what the **** do I do with it
