my engine parts list so far, what ya think?

hello

ive got a IV engine which i want to rebuild and when doing that i will get forge parts.
these are the parts i have so far:

Brian Crower Springs and retainers
The Brian Crower cams 272/272
ARP Head Studs
ARP main Studs
ACL Race Series Main and Rod Bearings
fidanza cam sprockets

now i thought it would be better to get Manley H-beam rods but the company adviced me the eagle rods which are $219 against $350 for the Manley rods.

also they tell me its better to use Mahle pistons then Wiseco pistons, both i can get for the same price.

so what do you think about that? eagle or manley, wiseco or mahle?

i dont think i need to get a different crank, unless it has crankwalk of course.
and i think i can keep the standard valves too?

or would you guys do it? i aint planning to get a stroker or something and plan to get around 400bhp.

there are some other stuff i have to get too, but these are just the once i found for the engine.

injectors, turbo, intercooler, ecu. i have to found out later

also where can i get a full engine gasket kit for the evo IV engine?

well i will be very glad if you guys could give me comments on the parts posted above, and tell which brand you would use.

with regards
pascal

Most of the H beam rods are made at the same place in China and finished by the seller (eagle/manley) so your buying more for price than anything else.
Pistons are pretty much the same
JE/Wiesco/Ross/Mahle/Arias are all of the cheaper end of the scale for forged piston and although they are completley adequate for what your doing you get what you pay for

272 Brian Crower cams are quite lumpy but produce good results as there based on HKS original design

@ pete

cant it be that manley gives the rods more treatments and better then eagle does which makes them better?

i think ill just go with the wiseco pistons though.. i know there are better ones but i dont think i need those..
i reckon the wiseco are allways better then stock.

and with the cams you think its ok or would you advice other brand/degrees?

cheers

Tbh m8 i think the finishing doesn't take on much at all, probably just putting them into a box!

We have never had a balanced set of any of them come yet, pistons are usually quite well balanced though

Go with the Brian Crower cams so long as you change the springs they will work well

and your absolute sure that these rods come from the same company?

well if you look at the pics, scat, eagle, manley H-beams look the same. so probably right!

but if they are good for 400 and lets say a bit more in the future and give no problems i go with eagle.

you do alot of engines right? did you have any problems with these rods or piston?

the total price i can get it for..what i wrote in the first post is 1700 dollar, only not sure if it was with shipping or not.

what size injectors do you recommend with this setup? and do i have to change the fuelrail to?

scat are slightly different they are the odd one out!
Yes we do a lot of motors and i have experimented with them all, i think you will find most of the top tuners all use the same manley/je but eagle are just fine and i do like wiesco as well
Injector size depends how far you wish to go,if you upgrade the ecu to a straight swap evo5 ecu use 560cc injectors out of any of the latter ones and a better pump,a sard will take care of the rest no need for an uprated fuel rail unless your going mad

hey guys

if you buy lets say 750cc injectors, but you need for example 600cc injectors.

would that then harm the engine or would the consumption be to high or would it not run properly?

cause when im done and i might want to tune it up in the future i dont have to change the injectors anymore.

top hp would maybe be 400hp which would be 787cc injectors, if you do the calculation at least.

can anyone give any comments on this?

thanks
pascal

i take it you mean 400atw(wheels) i run 560cc injectors and 400/400 fly

If you go for around 900cc the ecu you buy will compensate for the injectors when mapped so you wont be using anymore than whats needed, with the price of injectors being roughly the same you may as well go for bigger to cover any future mods as well instead of upgrading latter
