Ralliart ecu fitted but.......

My boost is lousy

Little bit of background:

Evo VI GSR
Forge adjustable actuator (hardest spring)
Forge recirc DV
Decat zaust
Std airbox with HKS panel filter
Walbro uprated fuel pump

Put the ralliart on today, left the car running till the fans kicked in (urban myth?) then killed the ignition.
This evening once the temps had dropped outside I went for a spin.....no noticeable difference in power deliver and I am now boosting at 0.8bar. With my original ecu I could hit 1.1/2bar on a night like tonight. Do i need some form of boost controller? If so, do I really need 200quids worth of APEXI or HKS or would a dawes suffice? All I'm looking for is 1.3bar.

Thanks for any/all sugestions.
Rob

hi rob

yes you do mate need an apexi or hks and dawes wont do as you cant same as kind of adjustment
but arent you lucky that i have both and you get first dip of the goodies at micks
it will run 1.5 bar with ralliart ecu. ( you may need colder plugs as well, oh i have them to ).

If you have an uprated actuator fitted already it should boost to whatever that is, the ralliart ecu aint that wonderfull it basically doesn't cut boost till 1.5bar and the fueling is a little leaner all through the range but a good upgrade over the stock item,8 grade plugs is a defo

Thanks for the input. I have a forge recirc fitted. The ECU was a steal and seemed to be a good way of getting 1.3 boost without going to mental exspence (here's hoping).

You can manage your boost level with either a dawes or an electronic controller.

A dawes is cheap, but needs setting up properly, and ideally when the air is cold so you don't get overboost when temps drop. You can set it where you like and they're pretty reliable when fitted properly. The level of boost you get will vary slightly with air temp though.

An electronic controller, blitz, HKS or whatever is more adjustable and will allow you to run a more consistant level boost independant of the ourside air pressure and temp as they're easily adjusted in the car to compensate. Ultimately the do basically the same thing though.

I thought the RalliArt ECU raised the boost and ran richer too, to accomodate need for more fuel when running higher boost. I believe there was a change in the temp when the fans come on too, but i could be wrong about that.
