Now that's interesting my friend has also has a Proton Coupe which uses the GSR engine, He's now got the turbo fitted on.

Had it rolling roaded today - Very impressive considering it's still running 10.5:1 compression ratio and stock internals.

He operator had to back off near the top end as the car started to pink - he was running on 95 instead of 99!!

I'm sure he'll be after even more power as well. Would the ecu need to be swapped from a GSR to evo one? Any other things he would need to do ? Maybe drop the compression down.

yes cliff your right i think the flange is bigger on the three. so you would need the down pipe as well.

1.8 turbo is totally different, the manifold flange use an offset hole but can easily be modded to fit the latter evo turbo, also if you buy an evo turbo make sure it has an elbow already fitted as the two are not interchangeable but the downpipe starts in the same place ianyork has a complete fitting guide to this as i sent it him!
The ecu out of an evo will fit and run so long as everything else is evo although your best best is to run our mappable ecu so you can keep stock injectors
Ray (my employee) ran an 1800 for some time like this and compared to how the car ran stock it was miles better!
