Early Evo Turbo Upgrade

Hi guys, has anyone fitted a higher power turbo to there early Evo ?

I'm just checking what is a good buy for high torque output as low down the rev range as possible.

Also who sells uprated turbos, most seem to be from either New Zealand or the States ?
I'm a bit confused by all the numbers on the American sites (Slowboy Racing and Turbocharges.com)

I realise you need supporting mods, I have a few such as uprated fuel pump and reg.

I would be aiming for a stock capacity engine with 800cc injectors and modified engine management.

Another question, is the GT35 too big for a 2 litre engine, would it be too laggy?

The bullseye performance GT35 looks a great turbo on Slowboys site.

Would the engine need loads spending on it to support this turbo ?

Sounds good the HKS but very expensive. Has anyone on here any first hand knowledge of fitting one of the Slowboy turbos to a road going/trackday Evo ?

Would a 30 series turbo give lots more low down power, ie around 3000 to 3500 rpm.

All this CR ratio and trim confuses me ! :???:

Thanks Joel, I'm just after some feedback really, so I can make a decision on buying one when the time comes.

The later Evo guys seem well catered for with turbos, but not many people in the UK seem to have changed their turbo except for putting the E3 turbo on their earlier Evo.

Then later turbos won't fit, so the American or N Zealand ones seem to be the only turbos on offer.

Low spool and plenty of torque is the way to go for road use.

I will be fitting one of Petes chips for now and bigger injectors, 3 inch exhaust etc. Just need to spec a turbo as well then I can work out a rebuild plan over winter !

Ive heard the evo 3 turbo is good for 360-380bhp mate. not sure what the truth is in that. You can get a ballbearing conversion for them though. Also theres a 20G conversion too. thats meant to be a decent upgrade without being too laggy.
