BOOST PRESSURE??????

There are two vacuum pipes coming off of the lower part of the engine which are fixed on the under side of the intake pipe after the maf one comes from the turbo and the other comes from the actuator (i think it is the one from the actuator off hand) which has an insert in it made out of alluminium with a hole in it about 2mm is this normal if so what does it actually do and will i run into heaps of large donkey doo if i remove it from the pipe??? :???: :???:

as far as i know m8 its a boost restrictor and you can take it out.but what i would suggest is keep a close eye on your boost gauge if you do.more power is no good if you have no engine :muhaha: .
hope this helps you m8.

Thanks mate as wanted to know this ages ago and you seemed to be the only one to answer my plight. Is there any sort of standard amount of boost increase for removal or does it vary considerably from car to car as at the mo i am only pushing .7 bar which is quite low and do not have a boost gauge at mo, i only know this as it has been on the r/road.Will the standard ecu cut if it overboosts ?

if i remember rightly it should give you about .2-.3 bar more boost which should make the car more responsive.and yes the standard ecu will cut on overboost.i think it is at 1.3 bar but not 100% on that,I will warn you though once you taste more boost it bites you in the ass and you want more and more

Has anybody tried drilling different sized holes in the restrictor to achieve the correct boost or not as this would be an easier way of increasing boost but not over cooking it?

it works the 'wrong' way normally..............................

i.e. smaller hole more boost and larger hole less!!

if you simply remove it the car will not achieve its target boost
