what does this do?

can someone tell me what the thing highlighted does? ive seen some evo 8 with and some with out?? :???:

It's a gas return system, it bleeds air between the intake and exhaust manifolds (i think) and is used to help control emissions on standard cars, it's often dumped when tuning.

its a recalculating dump valve .

i have put a new manifold on mine and taken this off but i find the car will somtimes stall now . i was told i could remove it as all it did was put hot air back into the engine . how true this is and wether it dose anything useful or nor i dont know .

ah so this is the thing id read was the fuel re-circulation whats-it. What efffect does removing it have? If its to do with emissions, will it fail the MOT or do i just need to take it somewhere else....

Awww man, someone told me it keeps air going through the exhaust manifold to keep the turbo spooling!!! I thought it was a lil wierd but went with it anyway...I like the idea od antilag I think Ill just leave mine just incase
